During our stay in Greece, we decided to stayed 6 days in Tolo, because it was great base for visiting some of the archaeological sites of the Peloponnese.
First aim to see was Mycenae, which is one of the most famous archaeological sites in Greece, the kingdom of the legendary king Agamemnon.
The ancient town was surrounded by gigantic walls, looks like labyrinth.
The entrance to the town is gate with with two female stone lions.
Next day we have moved to Epidaurus. Epidaurus is mostly famous for amazing architecture and the stunning acoustics.
Worth seeing were also museum, the remains of an ancient city,
and stadium.
Then we have taken a trip to the nearby town of Nafplio which was the first capital of liberated Greece. The worth to see was Palamidi Fortress, located on a hill above Nafplio.
From the fortress stretched an amazing view of the city and harbour.
To fulfill next day in our stay on Peloponnese we decided to move to Argos. On the way we have met the church of Zoodohos Pigi which is built in a hollow on the “Rock of the Caves”. It really looks like a picture…
and the Pyramid of Ellinikon, which is the most famous pyramid in Greece, but we are very disappointed to watching it…:)
The most worth to see was Castle “Larissa” , lies on the prominent hill overlooking the town. The road to the castle was not to easy, very curved and narrow. I’m glad I did not have the lead the car:) but amazing view from the hill was worth the drive:)
Castle now is closed due to renovation, possible only watching from the outside and the panorama of the city.
During our trip could not miss Ancient Corinth, our the last destination. Dominated by the Temple of Apollo one of the oldest surviving temples from Ancient Greece.
Around the Temple of Apollo are located residues and ruins of sanctuaries and temples, theaters, fountains and public buildings.
It is wonderful to be able to walk around this vast ancient site and observe the extensive ruins of this once prominent city.
